Confessional ran well enough at Beverley in the sprint and Duran Fentiman got him over to the favoured inside rail very early on, he faded close home and a drop back to a less testing 5f can see him reap rewards.
The Aintree Foxhunters (15:40) is one of my favourite races of the year and the horse I like in this is Denis Fagan's Irish raider Kanesh, he's relatively lightly raced in terms of track form with just the three runs so far including top two performances at Tipperary (2nd to the very useful Mossey Joe) and Downpatrick (beat good yardstick Island Peak) thus far in his career but two starts back he chased home Grand National fancy Backstage at Kirkistown in a good time and prior to that had taken out an Open at Tyrella in impressive fashion. He still appears to be very much on the upgrade after what can only be described as a patchy start to his pointing career (didn't break his Maiden until his 10th start) and he has the assistance of leading amateur Jamie Codd in the saddle. He jumps well, will appreciate the good to soft ground and at 25/1 looks worth an each-way interest in a race that often throws up one or two surprise places.
Advice: 0.5pts each-way Kanesh @ 25/1 (General)
Stakes: 4pts
Profit/Loss: -1.5pts
